Broadway, presents David Hernandez, 7:30 PM with open mic,$2-$3 suggested donation. ====================================== BROTHER BACK IN TOWN I can confirm that famous Chicago poet E. Donald Two-Rivers is back in town because I broke bread with him (and a Corona or two) last night. I won't say any more, except when you run into this brother, show him some love. Oh, and he might be making a guest appearance at the Whole Lotta Love show, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. ====================================== BEST OF CHICAGO POETRY I know, I know, I was suppose to have the expanded version of Best of Chicago Poetry (featuring additional poets from the 2006 Chicago Poetry Fest) out by the holidays. Needless to say, that didn't happen. So I've set a realistic deadline. I just accepted a display table at the 2007 Chicago Public Library Poetry Fest to happen at the Harold Washington Library on Saturday, April 28, so if I don't have the book available by then I'm going to look pretty stupid with an empty table. The book will feature poetry from 60 or so Chicago poets. Pick up your copy of Best of Chicago Poetry: The Expanded Edition, at the Library Fest. See you there! ======================================= PSSST Psst. Some poets are getting together for Vito Carli's birthday at a place called Skylark, 2149 S. Halsted, at 7 PM Saturday, January 27. How's that for some gossip? --------------------------------------------- On Saturday, February 10, ChicagoPoetry.com will host ""Whole Lotta Love," a special Valentine's Day poetry reading. What: Whole Lotta Love Where: Mercury Cafe, 1505 W. Chicago Ave. When: Sat, Feb 10, from 6 until 9 PM. Who: Thirty of Chicago's published and performance poets will appear to read five minutes of original poetry each in celebration of Valentine's Day. Expect a little bit of everything, because a wide range of poetic styles will be showcased. Poets scheduled to perform include: Mars, Kathy Kubik, Larry Janowski, Charlie Newman, Donna Pecore, Cathleen Schandelmeier, Emily Rose, Dave Gecic, Charlie Rossiter, Frank Matagrano, Kim Berez, Nissa Holtkamp, Mike Puican, Ruan Wright, Esteban Colon, Bob Lawrence, Larry O. Dean, Joe Roarty, Pamela Miller, Lauren and Francesco Levato, Dina Stengel, Wayne Allen Jones, Jared Smith, Sandy Goldsmith, Maureen Flannery, Buddha309, Michael H. Brownstein, and Omniphonic featuring Tom Roby. Why: Because ChicagoPoetry.com has entered its eighth year of reporting Chicago's poetry news online. Also because ChicagoPoetry.com recently reached its one-millionth page view hit at the website. Also because we believe what the world needs now is love sweet love (okay that's hokey). Hosted by C. J. Laity. This will be the first poetry event hosted by Chicago poet C. J. Laity since the 2006 Chicago Poetry Fest. Laity headlined the Chicago Tribune Printers Row Book Fair three years in a row with his Chicago Poetry Showcase. In 2005, he was selected to organize a poetry showcase for the Grant Park Chicago Blues Festival. Laity took a brief break from hosting poetry shows in 2006, because he was recovering from being a live liver donor. How Much: Free and open to the public. Food and beverages available for sale by the cafe. More information for public: http://ChicagoPoetry.com More Info / Contact Info: 773-529-2414
