- Mat Johnson - Born and raised in Philly, Mat Johnson grew up in the Germantown and Mount Airy sections of the city. As an adult, he has lived elsewhere. His first novel, Drop, was a B&N Discover Great New Writers selection. His second novel, Hunting in Harlem, won the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. He has written for a variety of publications, including a stint as a columnist for Time Out-NY. Mat Johnson currently teaches at the University of Houston, Creative Writing Program.

- From October 2006 until August 2007, Mat Johnson produced a blog entitled Niggerati Manor that focused (mostly) on African American literature and culture. He had a lively discussion on self-publishing going on. I didn't get a chance to throw podcast novels into the mix.
